If I Was a Bird...

"Flying Over the Waves of the Land" , Photography by Americo Meira

I wish I could fly like the stork over the cork oaks, one with the shape of the land. My beautiful country!
But eyes can turn to wings when the heart commands, and I find my way to Meira's place and take off.

The longing for the look and smell and sound of one's homeland never leaves one. I left mine when I was 7 years old, but the tears still start when I get to thinking...and yet if we were permanently there we would miss where we are now. Some things just play on your heart strings.
I know you wish you were there with your daughter. That has been a dream of mine as well to go back there with mine and tread in my old childish footsteps.
You at least could, I can no longer fly.

What very lovely pictures of Portugal!
How lucky we are to be able to make virtual visits --though I bet you wish you could make a real one just about now....
Hope to see you very soon.

Thank you for the link to Meira's photography, Isabel... Such visual poetry!

You know, time will pass quickly and your daughter will be home soon, full of stories and tales of her life with your parents. I look forward to hearing about them here...

Yes I too checked out your link. It's wonderful and takes me to places I know I'll never be lucky enough to visit.
